Summer Scavenger Hunt

2026 Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt

The Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt is brought to you by the RI Office of Library and Information Services, the RI Center for the Book, iREAD, and Rhode Island public libraries, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This program encourages families to "plant new seeds" and build connections with Rhode Island libraries throughout the summer months.

How to Participate

Find the Good Egg or the Bad Seed at libraries around Rhode Island for a chance to win a prize!

Children of all ages are invited to join the Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt this summer to celebrate the Summer Reading Program, Plant a Seed, Read. Pick up a passport at any participating library, then spend June 22 through August 22 visiting libraries across the state. At each stop, look for our summer mascots the Good Egg and Bad Seed and get your passport stamped.

Every visit to a library brings an unexpected adventure AND brings you closer to prizes. After five library visits, you’ll earn an entry into a raffle for a large Good Egg/Bad Seed plushie. Share a photo of a library visit with the RI Center for the Book after five visits and you’ll also receive a special surprise prize. Keep going for more chances to win: ten visits earns a second raffle entry, fifteen a third, twenty a fourth, and twenty-five a fifth entry plus an additional prize from the RI Center for the Book.

Submit your raffle entries online by September 7 to be included in the drawing for a Good Egg/Bad Seed plushie: olis-ri.libwizard.com/f/2026ScavengerHunt
