Workforce Development To support workforce development in libraries, OLIS works with partnering organizations to expand library programs, increase awareness of formal programs and identify and promote online resources, training, and credentialing programs. Quick Links Community Partners Governor's Workforce Board The Governor's Workforce Board (GWB) is RI's primary policy-making body on workforce development matters. The GWB invests in a range of programs and services that service hundreds of companies and thousands of workers through workforce programs, internships and incumbent worker training. Job Club RI Based out of the West Warwick Public Library, Job Club RI is a community based organization that meets weekly to exchange ideas and information for an improved job search. Discussions focus on resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, follow-up skills, internet job searching and accessing the hidden job market. netWORKri centers At netWORKri centers, located throughout the state, jobseekers and employers are matched through quality employment programs and services. NetWORKri centers will also make referrals to social services and other educational and job skill training programs. RI Workforce Alliance OLIS is a member of the RI Workforce Alliance, coordinated by the Economic Progress Institute. The Alliance is a partnership among business, labor, adult education and workforce training providers, philanthropic organizations and other community leaders dedicated to ensuring that RI has a dynamic and comprehensive workforce development system that meets the needs of employers and workers. Online Resources AtoZ Database Available through AskRI, AtoZ Databases include a job search tool, powered by Indeed.com to help patrons with job searches, and provides tips on different aspects of the job search, including interview prep, cover letter and resume help and job search strategies. RI Resource Hub The RI Resource Hub is a comprehensive online directory of education and career resources for Rhode Islanders looking for jobs, classes, training programming or career development. Learning Express Library Career Center The Learning Express Library Career Center features valuable resources for learning about careers, preparing for entrance and occupation exams, and joining the military or becoming an officer. Job Seeker Center The Job Seeker Center provides many resources for job searching needs. Workforce Services Hub WebJunction hosts a Workforce Services hub that contains a multitude of resources to help libraries provide services and support to job seekers, small businesses and entrepreneurs, and the unemployed. Teen Career Readiness All Course Network The All Course Network is designed to help districts and school create opportunities for RI students to envision and pursue their individual graduation path, including mastering skills of a lifelong learner and being prepared for jobs in sector's critical to RI's future prosperity. Exeter Job Corps Exeter JobCorps Center is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. Prepare RI PrepareRI is a statewide initiative to prepare all Rhode Island youth with the skills they need for jobs that pay. It represents a strategic partnership between the RI government, private industry leaders, the public education system, universities and non-profits across the state. RI Association of Community Action Agencies The RI Association of Communication Action Agencies is a trade association for a statewide network of Communication Action Agencies who have been a safety net for economically disadvantaged and working individuals and families.
