State Aid to Libraries The State of Rhode Island provides financial support to libraries in accordance with Rhode Island General Law 29-6. State aid to libraries, also referred to as state grant-in-aid (GIA), is administered by the Office of Library and Information Services in the categories below. Formulas and eligibility requirements for grant-in-aid are established in state statutes and regulations set by the Library Board of Rhode Island and promulgated by the Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS). OLIS administers the grant-in-aid programs, certifying eligibility and determining award amounts.
