The Office of Library and Information Services supports the continuing education of librarians, library staff and trustees and the development of statewide programming for the public. Virtual and In-Person opportunities hosted by OLIS staff and our partners can be found on our continuing education calendar, and other curated resources are provided below broken down by target audience.

Continuing Education Resources
Current OLIS CE Program Calendar
OLIS provides training, workshops, and meetings aligned with needs identified in the library community, including topics such as youth services, library management, adult services, special collections, and trustee training. In addition to sessions provided by OLIS Staff, the calendar includes free webinars from our learning partners Niche Academy and WebJunction.
The OLIS Library Learning Center provides asynchronous learning resources for library staff via Niche Academy. The Library Learning Center includes recordings of OLIS webinars and RI-specific training as well as curated webinars, courses and learning resources from state library agencies, library systems and other library serving organizations made available through the Niche Academy platform. This free site requires a login.

OLIS is a member of the Ocean State Libraries (OSL) consortium and offers access to professional materials from the Frank Iacono Library.
OLIS has compiled many resources to support library trustees at all points in their journey including RI General Laws and Regulations for Libraries, state and national resources, and a Trustee Manual. Visit our Library Trustee Resources page to find more links to all of these things and more.
Within the OLIS Library Learning Center lives a set of trainings for library trustees entitled Welcome to the Board speciically geared towards Library Trustees to help you understand your role. The OLIS Library Learning Center provides asynchronous learning resources via Niche Academy and requires a login.
AskRI.org is our one-stop online resource center for Rhode Island residents. Students, jobseekers, librarians and educators, and curious people of all ages can all reach the information they need from traditional research databases to free language learning, magazine browsing, and more. Need help? Our Ask-A-Librarian email services are available to all Rhode Islanders.
Rhodepedia is an online training platform filled with tutorials to help Rhode Islanders navigate the digital world. Find How-To videos on many of the resources available on AskRI as well as common digital tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office and more!
