Proposed State Aid to Libraries Fiscal Year 2025 (As amended by House Finance Committee)
On May 31, 2024, the RI House Finance Committee passed its version of the FY25 State Budget (H 7225 Sub A). The budget bill as passed by House Finance includes changes to the Governor’s proposed budget, including fully funding State Aid to Libraries at 25% of local appropriations and expenditures, per RIGL 29-6-2. The budget bill must be voted on next by the full House, then passed to Senate Finance and then the full Senate. The bill will then move to the Governor for signature. The FY25 Budget will not be finalized until the Governor signs it, but we are cautiously optimistic that it will be the House version of the budget that will be signed into law.
If State Aid to Libraries passes as amended by House Finance, municipalities will receive the following allocations for local public library services.
