Annual Summer Reading Program

OLIS sponsors the statewide Summer Reading Program to keep kids and teens reading for fun while strengthening their skills over the summer. Adults can join in too by discovering new genres, pursuing interests, and setting an example for young readers. Public libraries receive iREAD materials to support engaging activities for all ages. This program is supported by OLIS with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Summer Reading 2026: Plant a Seed, Read

This summer, grow your imagination at your local library with this year's Summer Reading Program Plant a Seed, Read. Designed for all ages, this theme is rooted in the idea of farm-to-table. Farms nourish our bodies, and libraries nourish our minds. Through books, activities, and events, you can explore culture, science, history, health, and the connections that bring communities together. Many libraries offer online reading trackers and mobile apps, making it easy to participate wherever you are. Libraries are not just for knowledge, they are places for discovery, creativity, and fun. Visit your library and plant the seeds for a great summer of reading.

OLIS Library Presenter Directory

The OLIS Library Presenter Directory (LPD) is an online clearinghouse for information about program presenters, as submitted by presenters, for the use of Rhode Island libraries. Using the LPD, libraries can identify presenters on a variety of topics for audiences of all ages. The LPD has been developed as a dynamic directory for library staff and presenters across the state to connect year-round to plan library programming.
