Institute of Museum and Library Services
Institute of Museums and Library Services

LORI Grants are offered by the Office of Library and Information Services as subgrants funded through its federal Institute of Museum and Library Services grant under the Grants to States Program supported by the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is the primary source of federal support for the nation's libraries and museums. IMLS advances, supports, and empowers America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development. The IMLS vision is a nation where museums and libraries work together to transform the lives of individuals and communities. To learn more, visit www.imls.gov and follow IMLS on Facebook.

2021 Library Of Rhode Island Grants

The Library of Rhode Island (LORI) Grant Program provides opportunities for Rhode Island libraries to develop projects that meet the priorities of the Office of Library and Information Services Five-Year Plan. Those priorities include:

  • expanding access to library materials and collections in physical and virtual format,
  • supporting and creating opportunities for learning, and
  • fostering engaged and inclusive communities through libraries as centers for economic and cultural development, and civic discourse.

The 2021 LORI Grant program provides non-competitive mini-grants to support reading and learning, and competitive grants to support access, learning and engagement at and through libraries. Check out the OLIS LORI Grant Programs available for more details on grant opportunities.

Additional grant opportunities are available through the American Rescue Plan Act, with funds administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
