The effective date of the current revision of the Library Board of Rhode Island handbook is September 2023.
A. Rhode Island General Laws
The State of Rhode Island General Laws (RIGL) set forth statutes that establish boards, agencies and the laws that govern those agencies and their programs.

- RIGL 42-46: Open Meetings
LBRI meetings must adhere to the Open Meetings Law. - RIGL 36-14: Code of Ethics
In addition to adhering to the Code of Ethics, board members must file a financial disclosure statement annually. This form may be filed online via the Ethics Commission website. - RIGL 38-2: Access to Public Records
Codifies the balance of the public's right to access public records and the individual's right to privacy.
