Summary
The Office of Library and Information Services is pleased to announce that Chelsea Watts has joined our team as the new Digital Resources Coordinator.

Chelsea will coordinate OLIS web services and online resources, and provide support for other digital initiatives such as the Rhode Island hub for the Digital Public Library of America. She will also serve as a member of the Network Services Team, which manages Library of Rhode Island (LORI) resource sharing and delivery.

Chelsea brings a variety of experiences as a librarian and researcher in public, academic, and private libraries to her new position. Prior to joining OLIS, she worked at the McLaughlin Research Corporation, an award-winning science and technology library that provides services to the U.S. Navy; as a contractor librarian, she provided remote and in-person research and user support and worked on a number of digital library outreach and resource initiatives. She has also held positions in reference or in the area of digital initiatives at public and academic libraries, including the North Kingstown Free Library, the Community College of RI, and the University of Rhode Island Libraries.  She has also served as an adjunct curator at the Bristol Historical and Preservation Society.

Chelsea earned her bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, but grew up in Maine. Her strong New England ties brought her to Rhode Island for graduate school, where she earned a dual Master's degree in History and Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island.  While at URI’s Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, she connected with and became a strong supporter of Rhode Island libraries.
