The kickoff will be followed by weekly author talks and story times and music, starting on Thursday, June 29, with Shelby Van Pelt, author of the New York Times bestselling novel Remarkably Bright Creatures

Library patrons must register to attend each of these free summer reading events, which will be held virtually on Zoom.



Please note that most of these events will not be recorded or posted online and will not have an opportunity to view these events at a later date if they do not attend.

Here is the schedule:

  • Kickoff event (all ages): Monday, June 26, at 4:00 pm EDT, with Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden.

  • Author talk (designed for K–5th grade, but all are welcome): Saturday, July 22, at 1:00 pm EDT, with Annette Bay Pimentel, author of All the Way to the Top: How One Girl’s Fight for Americans with Disabilities Changed Everything, and Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, whose story is told in the book.
